Is chiropractic care appropriate for children?

Aches, pains or dysfunction of the spine can begin from birth trauma and cumulative childhood falls and accidents. In the early years this can lead to spinal dysfunction but the problems maybe silent. As time goes on these silent problems may lead to aches or pain. We find that the prevention of these problems is the most effective way at addressing them. At Southern Family Chiropractic we use specifically tailored adjustments to suit the person, and for infants and toddlers this involves low force techniques.

How many years of study does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors undertake 5 full years of study through accredited universities in Australia. They are government regulated and government registered health professionals.

Do I need a referral from a GP?

Chiropractors are primary health care professionals so you don’t require a referral. Although we are finding more GP’s are regularly referring their patients for chiropractic care, many GP’s choose to refer people on a Team Care Arrangement (TCA) that is partially funded by Medicare.

Do you treat lower back pain in pregnancy?

Lower back pain during pregnancy is common. Some times the lumbar spine joints or discs can become inflamed causing pain in the lower back, buttocks and sometimes sciatica pain. Chiropractic care can provide relief of symptoms and improve function of the body that may improve the experience of pregnancy and birth.
